OK....I am trying to decided what to eat the day of the big race.  I got up this morning and had a banana and some yogurt.  I never got sick, but the sweetness of the banana and the yogurt made it so when I tried to eat my gu I started to throw up.  I was able to force my body to take one.  I had a hard time drinking any gatorade, because the thought of putting anything sweet in my body would make me sick.  I did bring oranges up and at mile 16 ate (drank) the juice from 4 of them.  They really saved me.  I still need to decide what to do the day of the race.  I can say that after the run I did not get sick....was very tired from getting up at 4:30, but I was not sick.

The run went OK.  I was really glad kathie was there, because she was pushing the pace today.  I know if I was on my own it would have been A LOT slower.  My Jello legs were very tired.  I could feel every little hill.  I also had another thing happen that I can't explain.  My breathing was very labored.  I didn't feel like I was tired, but if you listened to me breath you would have thougth I was dying.  At one point Kathie stopped to walk because she thought my breathing was so bad.  I can't explain it.  I have had a little sore throat for a couple of day.....but I wouldn't say I am sick.

Anyway, my splits were:  9:15, 8:56, 9:01; 9:25; 9:03; 9:34; 9:38; 9:02; 10:08; 9:16; 9:05; 9:02; 9:16; 9:04; 9:06; 9:15; 9:04; 9:04; 9:09; 10:16

It was really great that we saw Teena today, she looked so strong.  If she was stuggling she didn't show it.  What a great runner!!!!

Very nice job, Kimmy. I bet you two have a lot of fun when you run together. So cool that you ran into Teena.

Oh Kimmy!!! You crack me up!!! I was struggling and it was evident. But how super super super nice of you to say otherwise.

You and Kathie, on the other hand, looked absolutely beautiful. Seriously, I was looking at you both and wondering how in the world you both looked so stylish in your cute running outfits and everything. You girls are something else!!

Guess what I had before the run!!! Bread with nutella!!! So bad for me, but it tasted so good!! :) I think I do best with toast, jam, and laughing cow cheese. Sounds disgusting, but it is dang good!!!

Love you!!

You had a FANTASTIC run!!! Can't believe you were able to do that after your hillwork yesterday.

Kimmy!!! I want jello-legs like yours if they bust out those kinda pace. Sounds like a great fun run with Kathie. HOW FUN to run into Teena! I'm so glad you girls ran the JRP instead of fighting the brutal headwind and uphill in Provo Canyon.

Guess what I eat every morning before my run, you guess it, yogurt for short run, yogurt and banana for longer run. Today I did not drink any Gatorade. I drank only water two weeks ago in the Provo Canyon and felt great. Gatorade is too sweet for me and sometimes gave me upset stomach. Today I drank water and use Enlyten electrolyte strips (Kathie's neighbor is the dealer). Anyway, I may do just that at SGM. I take Gu every 45-60 min. in the marathon. By mile 23, the only thing I could stomach is the juice from orange slices they give out at the aid station.

Do you have allergy? The breathing might be a little bit of the allergens in the air or a mild case of exercise induced asthma? You symptoms sound more like constricted airway than shortness of breath. Anyhow, great job getting the final long run done, great pace and effort. Looking forward to see you BQ at SGM. YAY!!!!

Just finished my hill repeats...they felt pretty good...hard but not too hard! Are you going to do them tonight?

From Kimmy on Mon, Sep 14, 2009 at 12:58:49 from 65.48.64.14

Yes...I will do them tonight when I get home. I would much rather do the hill workouts rather than 800's
