Ran on the treadmill today.  Suppose to be 3 miles easy.  The first .5 was done at a setting of 5.5 then bumped up to 6 until 1 mile left when I bumped it up to a 6.3.  Ran with this setting until .2 left and then increased to 6.5. 

I felt fine, but did have to talke myslef to keep running.  First early morning run so I guess I would have a little difficulty. 

Goal: to set my 3 mile mark at 6.5 the entire time and feel comfortable and easy at that pace.

Today was a stretching and strength day.  I did run 1 1/2 miles on the treadmill.  I started out at a 5.5 and after five minutes moved up to a 6.  Another 5 minutes and took it up to 6.3.  Finished up with a 6.3.  I felt good, but wished I could have sustained a 6.3 longer at a comfortable pace.

I then did some stretching and lifting weights.  I felt pretty good.  Hopefully after time I will get a little more flexible.

Today was a speed workout.  I started out with a mile warm-up on level 5.5 with a 2% grade.  After the warm up I ran 5x400 at a 7:30 pace.  I was able to finish and felt fine, but I also felt like I got a workout. 

My goal is to keep at the 7:30 pace until it is easier then I will increase my speed slightly.

Today I tried to beat my last 3 mile time of 26:54.  I started out with a 1/2 mile warm up and ran my 3 miles. I did have to take a small 30 second breather at 1 1/2 miles.  I finished the 3 miles in 25:49.  I feel that taking the breather allowed me to continue to push my body so it can get use to going at faster speeds.

My splits were:

Mile 1 = 8:29 (probably went out too fast)

Mile 2 = 8:33 (could not have done this without the breather because there was a big hill)

Mile 3 = 8:46 I need to work on finishing strong.  My problem has been burning up and then not finishing very well.  Next time I will try and start slower and finish around 8:15.

Set out to run 13.1 today.  I had to do it on the treadmill.  I hated every minute of it.  I decided to just take it easy and set the treadmill on a 1% incline and a 6.0.  I think I just got bored, but couldn't force myself to do all 13.  I ended up just doing 9 and calling it a night.  I will do my 13.1 next week.
